HOW TO SELL PBX TO HOTEL SEGMENT:
Today there are many PBX manufacturers claims their system is capable of providing hospitality features. But if we look back there were few brands that were dominating this segment namely NEC, Alcatel, and Avaya.
NEC has got more installation base when compared to others in hospitality industry. The reason is the rich and stabilized PMS interface, sturdy hardware design and stringent quality assurance. As a sales person you need to concentrate on the parameters which can be used to overcome the competition.
Apart from TDM and IP extension there are specific features which include the vital PMS integration. Below are the features of PMS integration which should be the winning points to conquer customers.
What is PMS integration?
The system provides a data interface to a locally-provided Property Management System (PMS). This enables communication between the system and the PMS to provide computer control of Hotel/Motel features.
Check-in / Check-out:
CHECK IN: Guest room stations are allowed unrestricted use for making outgoing calls and ROOM CUTOFF is cleared.Guest name is updated.
CHECK OUT: Guest room stations are restricted in making calls, ROOM STATUS printout is supplied, DO NOT DISTURB is reset, MESSAGE WAITING is reset, AUTOMATIC WAKE UP is cleared.
AUTOMATIC WAKE UP:
This service allows the system to be programmed to call guest stations at a given time automatically. Upon answering, the guest will be connected to a recorded announcement or music source. A printout of unanswered or blocked AUTOMATIC WAKE UP attempts for each guest room is provided at the Hotel/Motel printer to the PMS.
DO NOT DISTURB:
This feature allows the Attendant Console, Guest Stations or PMS Terminal to place individual stations into DO NOT DISTURB. Calls can be placed from stations set in DND.
GUEST NAME DISPLAY THROUGH PMS:
This service feature displays the name of guests on HOTEL CONSOLE (SMART CONSOLE) in the guest service phones like room service, house keeping with room number and name . The information about guest names is provided from the PMS computer during check-in.
This feature allows the maid / house keeper to inform the PMS using the Guest Room station (using specific access code) to register the condition of guest room like room under cleaning, ready to sell etc...
This feature provides the guest and admin extension call detail output from the system to a call accounting system or to PMS using an RS-232C or LAN connector which is automatically posted in the guest folio.
This feature allows to temporarily restrict guest room telephones from making unauthorized calls when guests are away from their rooms. This feature allows the same restriction when the rooms are in Check Out status and it can be released upon guest arrival.
This feature allows the minibar person to inform the PMS using the Guest Room station (using specific access code) to register the usage / consumption of minibar items and usage amount is automatically calculated and posted in guest folio.
